St.St.Konstantin und Elena

The sea resort "St. St. Konstantin i Elena” is the oldest Bulgarian Black Sea resort. Situated only at an 8-kilometer distance to the north of Varna, the resort offers the peace and quiet of resting in the midst of a forest where all types of trees can be found oaks, elm-trees, fir-trees, cypresses and various other kinds.

The cozy little bays are suitable for sun-bathing, water sports and fishing. In the evening you can taste various traditional dishes and enjoy folklore programs in the numerous restaurants, taverns and pubs. The hotels are not densely situated in immediate adjacency, which provides for the peace and comfort of your desired rest.

 

Climate

The resort "St. St. Konstantin i Elena” is situated in the far northern part of the Mediterranean sub-tropic climatic belt and the climate is cahracterized as continental and Meditteranean comparatively mild and pleasant. The lenght of sun-shining is longest in July 331 hours and August 313 hours. From May to October the atmospheric temperature does not flactaute drastically the temperature range is between +18C and +31C. The average temperature in July is +22,8C. For the same period the temperature of the water ranges from +18C to +26C. The only wind registered is the typical sea breeze. The climate has been described as a huge natural inhalator and has been assessed as extremely suited for balneoclimatic treatment. Characteristic for the resort are enhanced humidity of the air, iodine vapours and decrease in convection cloud-formation. The sea has a very positive impact on the climate of the resort altogether. Autumn comes late in the resort due to the preserved higher temperature of the sea water.

Sight-seeing attractions

 

The St. St. Konstantin i Elena Monastery. The monastery was erected for a period of two centuries 14 16th centuries. One of the main attractions in the resort is the chapel which used to belong to the monastery. It was built half-way into the ground. According to legend, umder the stone plate at the alter blessed water is coming out of the ground. The monastery is open to visitors and worshipers alike. Every Sunday there is a liturgy and a mass service.
